Continuous sand filter, also known as external circulation continuous sand filter, works by simultaneously filtering and backwashing.
Working principle of continuous sand filter:
When the raw water flows through the inlet and passes through the water distributor, it flows upward through the filter bed. During the upward process, the pollutants are intercepted by the filter material, and the filtered clean water is collected and discharged by the overflow weir at the top of the filter. Filtering and backwashing are carried out simultaneously, with continuous filtering.
Advantages of continuous sand filter technology:
1. No need for high-power, high flow, and high head backwashing water pumps to backwash the dirty sand filter layer;
2. Continuous filtration process can be achieved without stopping the machine;
3. The dosage of medication is relatively low and the processing cost is low;
4. No moving parts, low equipment maintenance workload;
5. The operation is extremely simple, without the need to turn on the backwash water pump and corresponding pipe valves;
6. High degree of automation;
7. No need for backwashing the water storage tank, small civil engineering workload, and low investment.
